Start here: three questions to ask about skincare claims.
What was actually studied? Look for research on the finished product and distinguish this from studies of an individual ingredient.
How was the result measured? Check whether a claim describes a measured outcome, a participant’s opinion or a before-and-after photograph.
Who does the evidence apply to? Consider the study population, sample size and length of follow-up before assuming a result applies to everyone.
